9:00 update
Pas wins by 65 votes, that was how tough the fight was
It is interesting to see Pas almost losing the fight in their heartland... It seems that Umno is making serious headway in Kelantan.
Their conciliatory approach and ceramah compared well with Pas's where name calling and laknat melaknat is the norm
I think Umno should continue with the conciliatory approach and help Malays to calm down and think more long term, think about their future and the stability of Malaysia.
Pas may have won teh seat but I think Umno won the hearts and minds of the people in Manek Urai, they are no longer the bogeyman, no longer the evil party, no longer the damned...
8:30 update
Pas majority has been shaved right down to 36 votes... tense, I can tell you... I am on tenterhooks
I am so glad I drove 500 kilometres to get here.... I tell you sometheing, knowing something first is a great drug
I was told by a senior reporter when I joined that after 10 years on the beat it is nearly impossble to quit because you just cannot stand being out of the loop, not being the first to know... well he was not really a senior reporter, he was a senior editor, AAT... actually he told me during my interview, in case I thought I could excape teh evil clutches of the NST... Muaahhhhahahahah
8:25 Update
The majority that Pas enjoyed during early counting has slipped down from jsut over 200 to a shade over 100 votes and it looks ready to dip below 100 votes
It seems that Pas Kelantan had been very premature in their announcement
Umno insiders are also unsure of the position as some say that they may have lost by 64 votes while others, like Youth chief, Khairy Jamaludin has sent twitters that the party has taken the seat with a 39-vote majority
8:10pm
Ballots beign announced and it is a close fight, both sides winning each polling centre channel by slim margins
nail biting stuff, I will post the full announcement as it comes through later, InsyAllah
7:35 Update
All the polling centres have returned their ballto boxes (I think, my record keeping is a bit off since I have to do everything and then upload it up to youtube on a mobile broadband... aaargh)
so we are all waiting for the result, IF everything goes to plan we should ahve a result by 8pm... I think
If there are protests and recounts, then it would take longer....
keep coming back for more OK
7:06pm Update
Ballot boxes are arriving, as of 7:02pm five of the 12 boxes have arrived or it could be four... I was editing whilte trying to keep tabs
anyway, if the rate of ballot boxes returning persists then we may have a result by 8pm
Polling has closed and we are waiting for the first ballot box to arrive, police line now manned
4:51pm Update
1:54 pm Upload
Chucoh Puteri polling station.. all fine here but a fight broke out in Pria and the Elections Commission expressed disappointment at the party which has failed to keep its supporters in check. From the video you can see that supporters are in close proximity with each other so the chance of a fight breaking out is real
voter turnout stands at 57per cent at 11am. Its usually good for BN if it goes beyond 80 per cent..
Enjoy my first video report for the day, more coming soon, so keep checking back every hour from now
Police presence around the vote counting centre began increasing noticeably at about 4:15pm, crowds expected around 5;30pm. Pas claims they have won the race with 2,000-vote majority. As of 3pm voter turnout is 84 per cent
3:15 Upload
The polling is continuing and it seems that we may hit the 80 per cent turnout. BN sentiments are a bit shaky right now, they think that the high rate of voter turnout, especially from outside of town will hurt their chances

Bro Shamsul, thank you very much for the update on the Man U. Take care.
it's worth a fight bro,
UMNO when down but can hold their head high. This should be the new approach of UMNO onwards. IMHO, BN should proceed with the bridge instead.. It could be a good investment for coming GE.
Your reports in the Malay Mail were probably the most accurate. The rest of the parachute journalists will see how true your thinking was on that part about "we don't know what people will think of and do when they are inside the voting booth".
BTW a blogger in Kuantan had SMS me at 4PM asking what I thought (he later said PAS by 2,000). Lucky I was bold enough not to be influenced by the other bloggers and the online media and had stuck to what I really thought it...
Kelantanese tend to be mavericks - they don't follow trends set by others. And they also know that even if Umno wins, nothing will change in terms of power in the state. So, many might vote for Umno instead. However, I was wrong about "PAS wins but with reduced majority of maybe 800-900"
